Precautions for use

During the entire process of using the vacuum unit, the gas path must be intact and unobstructed.


The operation must be carried out strictly by the startup and shutdown procedures of the vacuum unit.


When using a filter with a large mesh must be installed at the inlet to prevent foreign matter in the pipeline from entering the pump cavity and causing the pump to get stuck and the motor to be damaged.


The oil tanks at both ends of the Roots vacuum pump need to be regularly replenished with lubricating oil. Refer to the specifications of the vacuum pump manual to add vacuum pump oil.


If the oil level is found to be lower than the above situation during operation, the machine must be stopped immediately to replenish the lubricating oil. When refueling, pay attention to the vacuum unit's air break. It is strictly forbidden to refuel the Roots pump when the unit is in a vacuum state; otherwise, the Roots vacuum pump will be damaged.


In addition, if the Roots unit is used to extract condensable gases, the vacuum pump oil will emulsify. Once the oil is emulsified, it must be replaced in time. Otherwise, it will damage bearings, gears, mechanical seals and other parts.


When using the Roots pump, the Roots pump must be jogged, its direction must be adjusted correctly, and the pump is strictly prohibited from flipping.


Structural features and uses

This unit is a Roots pump vacuum pumping unit. It uses a Roots pump as the main pump and a rotary vane vacuum pump as the fore-stage pump. A differential pressure gauge is connected in series between the fore-stage pump and the main pump, which opens and closes with the switch of the fore-stage pump. 


When the unit is shut down in any state, the passage between the outside atmosphere and the pumped system is automatically cut off to ensure the vacuum degree of the pumped system and to ensure that the vacuum pump oil does not flow back into the pumped system. The air inlet of this unit adopts a ball valve, and a vacuum gauge is installed in front of the valve to accurately observe the residual gas status of the pumped equipment or container and control the start-up of the Roots pump.


The working pressure of this unit is 133-7Pa, and the ultimate vacuum that can be achieved is 7-10Pa. Because the unit has the characteristics of fast starting and high pumping speed, it can be used for vacuum smelting, welding, drying, chemical pharmaceuticals, electronic vacuum components and other industries for vacuum pumping. However, it is not suitable for extracting gases with high oxygen content, toxicity, explosion, excessive water content, corrosion to metal, chemical reaction to pump oil, and particulate dust; nor is it suitable for transporting gas from one container to another as a conveying vacuum unit.


Working Principle

When the pumped system (transformer) is pumped to a certain vacuum degree (set by vacuum gauge), the Roots pump is automatically started.


Operation steps

1. Make preparations, move the equipment near the pumped container, connect the three-phase power supply, debug each pump, and pay attention to whether its running direction is correct;


2. Connect the corresponding exhaust pipeline and close all valves of the vacuum system to be pumped.


3. Start the power supply and open the pipeline vacuum valve. If water pump circulation cooling is used, the cold water pump can be started at this time;


4. Start the vacuum pump, connect the vacuum gauge power supply at the same time, set the required Roots pump start vacuum degree, and automatically start the Roots pump when the system vacuum degree reaches the set value range.


5. When the vacuum degree of the container reaches the specified requirement, the unit can be shut down, the vacuum pump and Roots pump will be automatically shut down, and other valves will be closed at the same time. If the vacuum gauge display value is no longer needed, the power supply of the vacuum gauge can be disconnected, the equipment can be cleaned, and the protective equipment can be covered for the next use.
