Transformer oil purification equipment is professional equipment used to treat impurities, moisture, gas and other pollutants in transformer oil (insulating oil). It aims to restore or improve the insulation performance, chemical stability and cooling efficiency of oil products, extend the life of transformers and ensure the safe operation of power systems. The following is a detailed introduction to its main functions and technical details:
1. Dehydration and degassing
- Remove moisture: Through vacuum distillation or coalescence separation technology, reduce the free water and dissolved water in the oil to below 10ppm (national standard requires ≤40ppm).
- Remove gas: Oxygen, nitrogen and other dissolved gases are precipitated under a vacuum environment to prevent oil oxidation and bubble discharge (such as reducing the gas content from 10% to below 0.1%).
2. Filter solid impurities
- Multi-stage precision filtration: Metal filter (100μm), cellulose filter element (10μm), polymer filter membrane (1μm) are used step by step to remove metal particles, carbon slag, fiber, etc., so that the particle contamination level reaches NAS level 6 or below.
3. Purification of aging products
- Adsorption treatment: Use activated alumina or silica gel to adsorb acids and colloids (reduce the acid value to ≤0.03mgKOH/g).
- Regeneration treatment (optional): Remove polar compounds through white clay or ion exchange resin to restore the dielectric strength of the oil (≥60kV/2.5mm).
4. Decolorization and deodorization
- Activated carbon adsorption: Improve oil color (from dark yellow to light yellow) and remove odorous substances such as sulfides.
1. Vacuum oil filter
- Workflow:
1. Coarse filtration (100μm) → Heating (60℃) → Vacuum separation (-0.095MPa) → Fine filtration (5μm) → Oil output.
- Technical parameters: Processing capacity 1-20m³/h, vacuum degree ≤50Pa, residual water ≤5ppm.
2. Centrifugal separator
- Applicable scenarios: processing large amounts of free water or emulsified oil (water content > 1000ppm), speed ≥ 6000rpm, separation efficiency > 95%.
3. Electrostatic oil purifier
- Principle: high-voltage electrostatic field causes colloidal particles to precipitate, especially suitable for ultrafine impurities (0.1μm level).
4. Online monitoring system
- Sensor: real-time monitoring of moisture, acid value, dielectric loss (tanδ), breakdown voltage, and data upload to the PLC control center.
1. New oil treatment
- Remove trace moisture and particles mixed in during transportation and storage before injecting new oil into the transformer.
2. Operating oil maintenance
- Regular purification: treatment every 3-5 years to delay oil aging (such as reducing dielectric loss from 0.05 to 0.01).
- Post-fault processing: emergency purification when the oil is carbonized due to internal discharge or overheating of the transformer.
3. Waste oil regeneration
- Waste oil with acid value > 0.1mgKOH/g can be reused after regeneration (saving 30-50% of cost).
- Fully automated control: PLC programming realizes linkage adjustment of temperature, vacuum degree and flow rate to avoid human error.
- Energy-saving design: Thermosiphon recycles heating energy and reduces power consumption by 20%.
- Environmental compliance: Equipped with VOCs recovery device, in line with GB/T 14542-2017 standard.
| Parameters | Small Equipment | Industrial Equipment |
|--------------------------|------------------------|------------------------|
| Processing Capacity | 0.5-2m³/h | 5-20m³/h |
| Vacuum | -0.08MPa | -0.098MPa |
| Applicable Oil Volume | <10 ton Transformer| >50 ton Transformer |

- International: IEC 60422 (Guidelines for Maintenance of Insulating Oil)
Through the above treatment, the performance of transformer oil can be fully restored to a level close to that of new oil (as shown in the table), significantly reducing the failure rate of transformers. It is the core equipment for preventive maintenance of power systems.
