The main function of the waste oil filter is to remove pollutants in the waste oil by physical or chemical methods, restore its cleanliness and performance, and thus realize the recycling of waste oil. Its main functions include the following aspects:
- Function: Filter solid pollutants such as metal chips, dust, carbon particles, colloids, etc., in the oil.
- Technology:
- Mechanical filtration: Use filter screens, filter elements, or filter cloths to intercept particles (precision 1~50 microns).
- Magnetic filtration: Adsorbs ferromagnetic impurities (applicable to engine oil and gear oil).
- Function: Separate free water, emulsified water and dissolved water to prevent oil oxidation, emulsification, or equipment corrosion.
- Technology:
- Vacuum dehydration: Heat and evaporate water under negative pressure (can be reduced to below 50 ppm).
- Coagulation separation: Deemulsify and coalesce tiny water droplets and then settle and discharge.
- Centrifugal separation: Use density difference to separate water and oil at high speed (applicable to waste oil with high water content).
- Function: Remove air, light hydrocarbons and other volatile gases dissolved in the oil to prevent oil foaming or oxidation.
- Technology: Vacuum flash evaporation or membrane degassing technology.
Purification of colloids and acidic substances
- Function: Remove colloids, asphaltene and acidic compounds (such as carboxylic acids) generated by oil oxidation.
- Technology:
- Adsorption purification: Use white clay, silica gel, or activated alumina to adsorb polar substances.
- Chemical treatment: Some equipment integrates pickling and neutralization processes (for deep regeneration).
- Function: Through purification, the viscosity, flash point, acid value and other indicators of the oil products are close to the new oil standard.
- Technology:
- Precision filtration: 1~5 micron filtration ensures cleanliness (such as NAS 1638 level 6).
- Additive supplement: antioxidants, anti-wear agents, etc., can be added to some equipment.
- Function: decompose oil-water emulsion and restore oil-water separation state (such as cutting fluid, turbine oil).
- Technology: coalescence separation + centrifugal or vacuum dehydration combined process.
- Function:
- Reduce waste oil discharge and reduce environmental pollution.
- Save resources and reduce the cost of purchasing new oil (recycled oil can be reused 3~5 times).
- Function: Clean oil reduces mechanical equipment wear, corrosion and oil circuit blockage, and extends the oil change cycle.
| Industry | Type of treated oil | Core requirements |
|----------------|-------------------------|----------------------------------|
| Power industry | Transformer oil, turbine oil | Dehydration, degassing, improving insulation strength |
| Machinery manufacturing | Hydraulic oil, gear oil | Removal of metal wear particles, restoration of lubricity |
| Automobile maintenance | Engine oil, transmission oil | Decarbonization slag, acid value reduction |
| Shipbuilding industry | Fuel oil, lubricating oil | Desalination of seawater, sediment removal |
| Petrochemical industry | Process oil, compressor oil | Deep removal of impurities, decolloidation |
Precautions
- Oil compatibility: Synthetic oil and mineral oil may require different treatment processes.
- Economical: Severely degraded oil (acid value > 2mgKOH/g) may have too high a regeneration cost.
- Safety standards: Explosion-proof design (handling flammable oils), compliance with environmental protection regulations (such as GB 17145).
Through the above functions, the waste oil filter can achieve a waste oil recovery rate of 80%~95%, significantly reducing industrial operating costs and environmental burden.
