Waste Oil Filtration Vacuum System

Time:2025-04-02 11:55:31  Reading volume:

Waste oil filtration vacuum system is a kind of equipment specially used for the regeneration and purification of waste oil such as waste lubricating oil, hydraulic oil, transformer oil, etc. It removes pollutants such as water, gas, solid particles, colloid, acidic substances, etc. in the oil through vacuum dehydration, degassing, precision filtration, adsorption purification and other technologies, restores the performance of oil products, prolongs the service life, or reaches the recycling standard.

Working principle of waste oil filtration vacuum system

Waste oil filtration vacuum system usually adopts a multi-stage purification process, which mainly includes the following steps:

(1) Pretreatment (coarse filtration)

- Purpose: Remove large particle impurities (such as metal chips, oil sludge, fiber, etc.).

- Equipment: metal filter (50~100μm), magnetic filter (adsorb iron chips), sedimentation tank.

(2) Heating (reduce viscosity and promote water evaporation)

- Heating temperature: 60~80℃ (adjust according to the flash point of the oil to avoid oxidation).

- Function: Reduce the viscosity of the oil and make it easier to separate water and gas.

(3) Vacuum dehydration and degassing

- Vacuum flash evaporation: The oil enters the vacuum separation tank (vacuum degree: -0.08~-0.095 MPa), and the water and light hydrocarbons evaporate under low pressure.

- Condensation recovery: The evaporated water vapor and gas are liquefied by the condenser and discharged, and the dry oil continues to flow.

(4) Precision filtration (removal of tiny particles)

- Filter element type: glass fiber filter element, sintered metal filter element (1~10μm).

- Filtration accuracy: NAS 6~8 level (ISO 4406 15/13/10).

(5) Adsorption purification (optional, removal of colloid and acidic substances)

- Adsorption material: activated clay, silica gel, molecular sieve.

- Function: adsorption of oxidation products, pigments, acidic components (reducing TAN value).

Application of waste oil filtration vacuum system

(1) Waste lubricating oil regeneration

- Applicable oils: engine oil, gear oil, hydraulic oil.

- Purification target: remove moisture, metal particles, sludge, restore viscosity, acid value and other indicators.

(2) Transformer oil purification

- Key requirements: water content ≤15 ppm, breakdown voltage ≥60 kV.

- Process: vacuum dehydration + precision filtration + adsorption (such as silica gel).

(3) Turbine oil (steam turbine oil) treatment

- Purification focus: remove moisture and tiny particles (NAS ≤6 level).

(4) Fuel (diesel, aviation fuel) purification

- Special requirements: explosion-proof design (low flash point oil requires a special vacuum system).

Oil quality assessment after waste oil filtration

| Test items | Qualification standards | Test methods |

|-------------------|----------------------------------|---------------------------|

| Water content | ≤50 ppm (transformer oil ≤15 ppm) | ASTM D6304 (Karl Fischer method) |

| Cleanliness | NAS ≤6 (ISO 4406 15/13/10) | Particle counter |

| Acid value (TAN) | ≤0.5 mg KOH/g | ASTM D664 |

| Viscosity (40℃) | Deviation from new oil ≤±10% | ASTM D445 |

| Flash point | No significant decrease (decrease ≤10%) | ASTM D92 |

Key points for selecting wa aste oil filtration vacuum system

1. Processing capacity: select according to the amount of waste oil (such as 500 L/h, 10 ... L/h).

2. Filtration accuracy: according to oil requirements (such as hydraulic oil requires 1~3μm, ordinary lubricating oil 5~10μm).

3. Heating method: electric heating (small flow), thermal oil heating (large flow, anti-local overheating).

4. Vacuum pump type: oil rotary vane pump (economical), Roots pump (high efficiency), dry pump (maintenance-free).

5. Automation level: whether PLC control and online monitoring (moisture, particles) are required.

FAQ

Q1: Can waste oil be completely restored to new oil after filtration?

- Not necessarily, depending on the degree of oil oxidation and additive loss.

- Recoverable: moisture, particles, slight oxidation.

- Unrecoverable: severe oxidation (too high acid value), additive depletion.

Q2: Can the waste oil filtration system handle emulsified oil?

- Yes, but it needs to be combined with demulsification technology (such as heating + vacuum + coagulation separation).

Q3: Can the filtered waste oil be used for high-precision equipment?

- It needs to be determined after testing. For example, if the hydraulic servo system requires NAS ≤5, it is necessary to ensure that the filtration accuracy meets the standard.

Waste oil filtration vacuum system is an efficient solution for waste oil regeneration, extending oil life and reducing lubrication costs. It is suitable for power, machinery, petrochemical, shipbuilding and other industries. When selecting, it is necessary to match the equipment parameters according to the oil type, pollution degree and processing volume, and verify the purification effect through oil testing to ensure that the filtered oil meets the equipment requirements.
