The harm of oxidation and deterioration of turbine oil

Time:2025-02-27 10:55:49  Reading volume:

The causes and hazards of turbine oil oxidation and deterioration are as follows:

 Causes

1. High temperature: The high temperature generated when the turbine is running will accelerate the oxidation reaction of the oil.

2. Oxygen contact: The oil comes into contact with oxygen in the air and an oxidation reaction occurs.

3. Metal catalysis: Metal parts in the equipment (such as copper and iron) will catalyze the oxidation reaction.

4. Contaminants: Impurities such as moisture and dust will promote oxidation.

5. Operation time: The longer the oil is used, the higher the degree of oxidation.

 Hazards

1. Viscosity change: Oxidation increases the oil's viscosity, deteriorates its fluidity, and affects its lubrication effect.

2. Acidic substance generation: Oxidation produces acidic substances that corrode the equipment.

3. Precipitation formation: The sludge and sediment generated by oxidation will block the oil circuit and filter.

4. Degradation of lubrication performance: The lubrication performance of the oil is reduced after oxidation, which increases equipment wear.

5. Reduced equipment efficiency: Deterioration in oil performance will affect turbine operating efficiency, increase energy consumption and risk of failure.

 Preventive measures

1. Regularly change oil: Change oil according to the recommended cycle.

2. Control operating temperature: Avoid oil being in a high-temperature environment for a long time.

3. Prevent pollution: Keep the system clean and prevent moisture and impurities from entering.

4. Use antioxidants: Add antioxidants to delay oxidation.

5. Regular monitoring: Monitor the degree of oxidation through oil analysis and take timely measures.

The above measures can effectively reduce the oxidation and deterioration of turbine oil and extend the life of the equipment.
