Transformer oil treatment equipment is mainly used for the purification, regeneration and degassing of transformer oil to restore its insulation performance, chemical stability and extend its service life. According to the treatment objectives and technical principles, it is mainly divided into the following categories:
Purpose: Remove moisture, gas and mechanical impurities in the oil and increase the breakdown voltage of the oil.
Working principle:
- Heating system: The oil is heated to 50~70℃ (reduces viscosity and promotes water evaporation).
- Vacuum degassing: In a high vacuum (≤0.1kPa) environment, moisture and gas (O₂, N₂, etc.) evaporate and separate.
- Precision filtration: Multi-stage filter element (1~5μm) removes particulate matter.
Typical models:
- ZYD series (China, e.g. ZYD-100, 100L/min processing capacity)
- VFD series (German Hoffman, high vacuum degassing)
- CMM series (US DESCO, with online monitoring)
Applicable scenarios:
- New oil purification
- Dehydration and degassing of transformer oil in operation
- Oil treatment during maintenance
Purpose: Treatment of severely aged oil (high acid value, dark color, containing colloids/oxides).
Working principle:
- Adsorption purification: Use activated alumina, silica gel, or bleaching earth (activated white clay) to adsorb acidic substances and colloids.
- Chemical regeneration: Some equipment uses solvent extraction or hydrogenation treatment (less common).
Typical models:
- TRO series (GlobeCore, India, mobile regeneration vehicle)
- ORC series (Kraft & Bauer, Germany, fully automatic regeneration)
Applicable scenarios:
- Oil quality deterioration after long-term operation (high dielectric loss tanδ, acid value>0.1mg KOH/g)
- Transformers with more sludge and sediment
Purpose: Improve oil color (dark yellow/brown→light yellow), remove some oxides.
Working principle:
- Activated clay adsorption: bleaching clay filtration, adsorption of pigments and polar compounds.
- Centrifugal separation: Some equipment combines centrifugal force to accelerate the separation of impurities.
Typical models:
- OCU series (China SINO-NSH, small decolorization equipment)
- Filtrol series (USA, industrial decolorization)
Applicable scenarios:
- Abnormal oil color, but not seriously aged
- Used in conjunction with regenerators
Purpose: Continuously purify transformer oil during operation without a power outage.
Working principle:
- Circulation filtration: Oil pump through bypass system → process → re-injection.
- Real-time monitoring: integrated moisture, gas and particulate matter sensors.
Typical models:
- TMT series (Swiss Liquifilter, intelligent control)
- OFS series (Canadian Hypro, compact design)
Applicable scenarios:
- Large power transformers (500kV and above)
- Preventive maintenance of key substations
Although it is not a processor itself, it is usually used in conjunction with the following equipment:
- Oil chromatograph (DGA): detects dissolved gases in oil (H₂, CH₄, C₂H₂, etc.) and predicts faults.
- Micro-water tester: measure the moisture content in oil (ppm level).
- Dielectric loss tester: evaluate the insulation performance of oil (tanδ value).
1. Oil quality problems:
- Simple dehydration and degassing → Choose a vacuum oil filter.
- Severe aging (high acid value, much oil sludge) → Choose a regenerator + decolorizer.
2. Processing capacity:
- Small distribution transformer: 50~200L/min
- Large power transformer: 500~5000L/min
3. Automation requirements:
- Fully automatic (PLC control), suitable for unattended stations.
- Manual type has a low cost and is suitable for intermittent use.
- Mild pollution: vacuum oil filter (ZYD/VFD series).
- Severe aging: regenerator (TRO/ORC series) + decolorizer.
- Key substation: online treatment system (TMT/OFS).
