What are the machines for purifying industrial oil?

Equipment for purifying industrial oil can be divided into the following categories according to the type of oil (such as lubricating oil, hydraulic oil, transformer oil, etc.) and different pollutants (water, particles, gas, acidic substances, etc.):

Centrifugal oil purifier

- Principle: Use the centrifugal force generated by high-speed rotation to separate impurities of different densities in the oil (such as water, metal particles).

- Features:

- No filter element is required, and the maintenance cost is low.

- Suitable for processing oils containing a large amount of water and solid impurities (such as gear oil, cutting fluid).

- Typical equipment:

- Disc centrifuge (such as Alfa Laval's industrial oil purification system).

- Horizontal screw centrifuge (for dehydration and deslagging of high-viscosity oil).

Vacuum oil filter

- Principle: Heat the oil in a vacuum environment, evaporate water and light volatiles, and remove particles through precision filtration.

- Features:

- Can be deeply dehydrated (water content drops to less than 10 ppm).

- Can remove dissolved gases (such as hydrogen in transformer oil).

- Typical applications:

- Regeneration of transformer oil and turbine oil.

- Brand examples: Pall, CJC oil filter.

Plate and frame pressure oil filter

- Principle: Pressurize the oil through filter paper or filter cloth to intercept particles and colloids.

- Features:

- Simple structure and low cost.

- Suitable for coarse filtration of high-viscosity oil (such as rolling mill oil).

- Limitations: Cannot remove moisture and soluble pollutants.

Electrostatic oil purifier

- Principle: Use an electrostatic field to adsorb tiny particles (less than 1 micron) and colloids in oil.

- Features:

- No consumables are required, suitable for precision equipment (such as aviation hydraulic systems).

- Ineffective against moisture.

- Representative equipment: Hy-Pro electrostatic oil filter.

Adsorption oil purifier

- Principle: Adsorbents (such as silica gel, activated clay) are used to remove acidic substances, oxides and pigments in oil.

- Features:

- Can improve the chemical properties of oil products (such as acid value, color).

- Commonly used for waste oil regeneration (such as lubricating oil recovery).

- Equipment example: molecular sieve adsorption oil purification system.

Coalescing separation oil purifier

- Principle:

1. Coalescing filter element: merge tiny water droplets into large droplets;

2. Separation filter element: Use the density difference to separate water.

- Features:

- Efficient removal of emulsified water (such as water in turbine oil).

- Brand examples: Donaldson, Hifi Filter.

Online circulation purification system

- Principle: Connect the oil purifier in parallel with the equipment oil circuit to filter pollutants in real time.

- Features:

- Maintenance without stopping the machine, extending the life of the oil.

- Commonly used in large hydraulic systems and generator sets.

Oil Purifier Selection Guide

1. Oil Type:

- Lubricating oil: particles and water need to be removed (vacuum oil filter + precision filtration is recommended).

- Insulating oil: Dehydration and degassing are required (vacuum oil filter is preferred).

2. Pollution Degree:

- High moisture: centrifuge or coalescence separation.

- High particles: electrostatic or plate and frame filtration.

3. Flow requirements:

small equipment can choose a portable oil filter, large system requires customized solutions.
