Industrial oil filtration methods encompass various techniques to remove contaminants from industrial oils such as lubricants and hydraulic oils. These methods are crucial for restoring the original performance of oils, extending their lifespan, and ensuring the smooth operation of machinery and equipment. Here are some common industrial oil filtration methods:

What are the industrial oil filtration methods?(图1)

1、Plate Filter Press Method:

Description: This method uses multiple layers of filter paper to remove contaminants from oil.

Advantages: High filtration accuracy when filter paper is regularly replaced.

Disadvantages: Can only remove solid particles, not water or air. Requires regular filter paper replacement, which is inconvenient and costly.

2、Screen Filtration Method:

Description: Similar to the plate filter press method, but uses high-precision filter cartridges instead of filter paper.

Advantages: Can filter out smaller solid particles.

Disadvantages: Cannot remove water or air. High operating costs due to frequent cartridge replacement. Unstable performance and high filter material consumption.

3、Vacuum and Screen Filtration Method:

Description: Heats the oil and uses vacuum acceleration to evaporate some free and dissolved water. After cooling and condensation, it removes water and air, and then filters out solid particles through a screen.

Advantages: Can remove surface water from oil.

Disadvantages: Low water removal efficiency, requiring long operation times. High operating costs and filter material consumption. Oil deterioration due to prolonged heating reduces oil lifespan.

4、Coalescing Filtration Method:

Description: Different filter cartridges, including pre-filtration, coalescing, and separation cartridges, are used to form a dual-stage filtration system.

Advantages: Can remove solid particles and free water to some extent.

Disadvantages: Cannot remove air or dissolved water. Requires frequent monitoring of filter cartridge contamination and oil outlet quality to maintain filtration accuracy. Low efficiency and high operating costs due to frequent cartridge replacement.

5、Centrifugal Filtration Method:

Description: Separates contaminants from oil using centrifugal force. Oil is pumped into a high-speed rotating centrifuge where density differences cause contaminants (such as non-metallic solid contaminants, metal particles, and water) to be separated.

Advantages: No consumables required, high-speed automatic continuous water removal, wide applicability, and can be used online or offline. High purification efficiency, capable of simultaneously separating oil, water, gas, and impurities.

Disadvantages: May have higher initial investment costs compared to some other methods.

6、Gravity Sedimentation Method:

Description: Allows oil to remain static for an extended period, allowing water and mechanical impurities to gradually evaporate and settle.

Advantages: Simple and inexpensive equipment, no damage to oil.

Disadvantages: Time-consuming and incomplete purification. Cannot remove some acidic substances and soluble impurities.

7、Vacuum Filtration Method:

Description: Heats the oil to 50~70°C and presses it into a vacuum tank where it is atomized. Oil, water, and gas are separated, and then a vacuum pump removes the steam and gas.

Advantages: Effective for removing water and gas.

        Disadvantages: Cannot remove mechanical impurities.

8、Color Removal and Filtration Method:

Description: Uses adsorbents such as silica gel and activated carbon to remove colorants and other harmful substances from oil. Further fine filtration removes tiny particles to ensure oil purity.

Advantages: Improves oil color and clarity, suitable for various industrial oils. Energy-saving and environmentally friendly designs are available.

Disadvantages: Additional steps and equipment for color removal may increase costs.

In summary, industrial oil filtration methods are diverse, each with its own advantages and disadvantages. The choice of method depends on the specific contamination situation of the oil and the purification requirements.
