Transformer oil purifier operation steps

Transformer oil purifier (insulating oil purification equipment) is mainly used to remove moisture, gas, impurities, etc. from transformer oil and restore the insulation performance of the oil. The operation must be carried out strictly according to the regulations to ensure safety and effectiveness. The following are detailed operation steps:

1. Preparation before operation

1. Check the status of the equipment

- Confirm that all parts of the oil filter (oil pump, filter, heater, vacuum pump, etc.) are intact and leak-free.

- Check whether the power supply, pipeline, and valve are normal and the grounding is reliable.

- Ensure that the oil storage tank and transformer oil valve are in an operable state.

2. Oil sample detection

- Take samples to test the moisture content, dielectric loss (tanδ), breakdown voltage, gas content and other indicators of the transformer oil to clarify the purification target.

Precautions

1. Safety regulations

- It is strictly forbidden to start the heater without water!

- Be careful when filtering the oil during transformer operation to avoid negative pressure intake (dry nitrogen can be filled for protection).

2. Oil quality protection

- After filtering the oil, it needs to stand for ≥4 hours before performing the pressure test (releasing residual bubbles).

- Cycle the filter several times until the indicators are qualified (such as moisture ≤10ppm, breakdown voltage ≥60kV).

3. Maintenance

- replace the filter element and clean the filter after each use.

- Check the vacuum pump oil and seals regularly.

Fourth, a common problem handling

| Problem | Possible cause | Solution |

|------------------|----------------------|----------------------------------|

| Insufficient vacuum | Poor seal/pump oil contamination | Check pipeline seal, replace vacuum pump oil |

| Low oil flow | Filter element clogged/oil temperature too low | replace filter element, heat appropriately |

| Too much foam in oil | Heating temperature too high | Lower temperature to below 50℃ |

Five, reference standards

- DL/T 521-2021 "Guidelines for Acceptance and Use and Maintenance of Vacuum Oil Purifiers"

- GB/T 7595-2017 "Maintenance Standards for Transformer Oil Quality in Operation"

When operating, be sure to follow the equipment manufacturer's manual! If it involves large transformers or complex working conditions, it is recommended to be performed by professionals.
