The difference between vacuum oil filter and plate oil filter

Vacuum oil filter and plate oil filter are two commonly used oil purification equipment in industry. They have significant differences in principle, structure and application:

Difference in working principle

Vacuum oil filter:

- Using the principle of vacuum dehydration, the water in the oil is evaporated by heating in a vacuum environment

- Removing solid impurities through multi-stage filtration

- Can remove water, gas and solid particles at the same time

Plate oil filter:

- Relying solely on physical filtration (pressure filtration)

- Intercepting solid impurities through the pores of filter plates, filter paper, or filter cloth

- Mainly targeting solid particle pollutants

Difference in structural composition

Vacuum oil filter:

- Contains vacuum pump, heating system, vacuum separation chamber, precision filter, etc.

- The system is relatively complex and large

Plate oil filter:

- Mainly composed of filter plates, filter frames, filter paper/filter cloth and pressure system

- Simple structure and relatively small in size

Comparison of processing capacity

| Project | Vacuum oil filter | Plate oil filter |

|------|------------|------------|

| Water removal capability | Strong (can reduce water content to below 10ppm) | Weak (basically no water removal function) |

| Degassing capability | Can remove dissolved gases | No degassing function |

| Removal of solid impurities | Can filter to 1-3 microns | Usually 5-10 microns |

| Oil processing speed | Slow (requires heating and vacuum process) | Faster (simple filtration) |

Application scenarios

Applicable scenarios for the vacuum oil filter:

- Treatment of insulating oils such as transformer oil and turbine oil

- Oil purification that requires deep dehydration

- Oil regeneration and recovery performance

Applicable scenarios for the plate oil filter:

- Solid particle filtration of lubricating oil and hydraulic oil

- On-site rapid filtration requirements

- Basic filtration requirements with a limited budget

Maintenance and cost

- Vacuum oil filter: complex maintenance, requires regular inspection of a vacuum system and heating elements, high initial investment

- Plate oil filter: simple maintenance (mainly replacement of filter paper/filter cloth), low initial cost, but high consumables

Which equipment to choose depends on the specific oil contamination and purification requirements. For applications that require deep purification (especially water removal), a vacuum oil filter is a better choice; for scenarios where only solid particles need to be removed, a plate oil filter is more economical and practical.
