How to choose the oil pump for vacuum oil filter?

There are several factors to consider when choosing an oil pump.

1. Determination of the type of oil pump: The oil pumps commonly used in vacuum oil filters can be divided into gear pumps, vane pumps and plunger pumps according to their structure. Gear pumps are used in low-pressure systems and are not sensitive to oil contamination.

The vane pump outputs a uniform flow rate, small pulsation, and low noise, but the oil absorption characteristics are not very good and are sensitive to oil contamination. Piston pumps are easy to obtain with high-precision matching, with small leakage and high volumetric efficiency. They are often used in high-pressure systems with vane pumps and are also sensitive to oil contamination. Therefore, the vacuum oil filter selects gear pumps as inlet and outlet pumps.

2. Determination of oil pump parameters and working pressure:

To improve the reliability of the system and extend the service life of the pump, the normal working pressure of the oil pump in a general vacuum oil filter is 70~80% of the rated pressure of the pump. The working pressure of the oil pump should not be higher than 0.5 MPa, because the system operates under negative pressure and there are no hydraulic cylinders, hydraulic motors, and other actuators.

3. Determination of the oil pump working flow:

When the system is working, the oil pump flow must be greater than the flow.

4. Determination of the oil pump motor power:

Under normal circumstances, the pump operating parameters should be within the pump efficiency curve area, usually calculated as 0.8. Considering that the motor is generally allowed to be overloaded by 25% for a short time, the motor power can be determined after checking other working conditions.
